Charlotte Fixler

Maria Montessori once said, “Play is the child’s work.” If that is true, Charlotte either never fully grew up or is the luckiest grown-up ever, because play is, in fact, her life’s work. A former elementary school teacher, Charlotte leads communication and education initiatives at ThinkFun, the company behind brain-building games like Rush Hour and Zingo! When describing her job to others, their first question is without fail, “You mean you’re like Tom Hanks in Big?!” On many days that’s not so far-fetched.

Charlotte’s work is driven by the belief that fun is a key ingredient in meaningful, lasting learning. She believes play is the ideal vehicle to engage and equip children with critical thinking and problem solving skills to tackle 21st century challenges. Through dynamic collaborations with school systems, learning specialists, even brain researchers, Charlotte works to develop products and programs to build and stretch these skills through the fun of game play.
